Wilhelm (William F. ) immigrated with his brother Paul to San Francisco. They planned on opening a men's clothing store. The store was burned down the night before the opening. They both believed that the burning was due to the anti-immigrant sentiment at the time. He and his wife Henriette later moved to Anaheim, California. Source: Family Tree on Ancestry.com

In the 1900 United States Census (date taken 6 June 1900), Henriette is listed as "Head of Household" living in Anaheim, Orange County, California. She is listed as being a widow. Since we find Wilhelm in the 1880 United States census (date taken 5 Jun 1880), he died between 5 Jun 1880 and 6 Jun 1900. It is doubtful Wilhelm had any children. If he did, they would have died in childhood as there are no children listed in the census records. D. Younger 11 Dec 2007

“William T. DATO, who worked in the middle of the 19th century in Shanghai, China. On April 1st 1855 he became a partner of Florian Kupferschmidt in the company Kupferschmidt & Dato.

Around 1860 one Paul DATO joined the Company Wm Dato & Co.
